Dear Mr. Obama. We, the representatives of Ukrainian public organizations, who support the Cuban revolution and carry out the work, directed to the strengthening of the friendship between the peoples of Cuba and Ukraine, have never shared the illusions concerning Your policy, that occured in the beginning of Your presidency. We has always understood that even if You want to change something something in the policies of the United States, You would not be allowed to do that by the political and business cliques which brought You to power. We were indignant that You were awarded with the Nobel prize in Piece, which last of all can deserve a president of the country, that has been incessantly leading agressive wars during the last decades. But we have to state, that even for us You turned out to be a great disappointment. We were sure that You will not be able to change the direction of the US policy as You have promised, but we haven’t thought that Your administration will cultivate the increase of the imperialist agression. Now that is the fact which is prooved not only by the extension of the ocupation contingent in Afganistan, but also by the open preparation to the war against Venezuela and Cuba. Your government ventured on a blasphemy to use the tragedy in Haiti as a pretence to turn this poor country into the bridgehead for the future war. The blockade towards Cuba is not becoming weaker, as You had promised, on the contrary, it is being intensified, what is clearly demonstrated by the last economic sanctions by the United States against the European enterprises that carry on trade with Cuba. Your administration not only leads the economic war against Cuba, but also tries to cause the most huge moral strokes. Especial indignation excite the decisions of the Amerian judges concerning the review of the cases of the Cuban Five, that can not be classified otherwise than a beforehand planned and well coordinated humiliation. The judges even did not hide that they perfectly understand that the charges are fully falsified and the sentences are illegal. That Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labanino, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando Gonzalez and Rene Gonzalez had not committed any crime against the United States, but only gathered information about the activity of the anti-Cuban terrorist organizations that are based on the territory of the USA. But the court didn't free them with the gratitude for their help to the American government in the fight against international terrorism. No, instead of doing that they reduced the terms of imprisonment for an absurd little time, cynically demonstrating that it doesn't matter for them, whether the accused had committed any crime against USA. Anyway, they will stay in prison, because the anti-Cuban Miami mafia, they had been fighting against, wants that. In order to increase the effect of moral strike, at this very time the great show is organized, on which "The terrorist #1 of the Western hemisphere” Luis Posada Carriles is practically discharged. Your government not only refuses to extradite this criminal to the legal courts of the countries, where he had committed many bloody crimes. Moreover, it does everything possible to upset even the shameful travesty of justice that is aimed to represent the outstanding international terrorist as a petty infringer of the migration legislation. We demand you to 1. call off American troops from Haiti 2. stop the blockade against Cuba 3. stop creating new and eliminate old military bases around Venezuela 4. free the Five Cuban patriots-fighters against international terrorism 5. extradite the international criminal Luis Posada Carriles for the equitable judgment Ukrainian National Committee "Free the Five” www.five.in.ua
