The international delegations that have come to Euskal Herria in the context of GaztEHerria (http://www.gazteherria.net) have gathered today in Gernika. From this village, example of the attacks against Euskal Herria, we want to show our solidarity with the Basque youth.
But showing our solidarity to the youth movement, that has never come down, is not our only objective. Tomorrow GaztEHerria will be held in Durango, and it will give us the opportunity to learn from each other, share our experiences with the Basque youth and have an insight of the different struggles that are taking place in Euskal Herria.
Now that new opportunities are opening up in Euskal Herria, we want let you know about our last initiative.
Civil & Political Rights for the Basque Youth (http://basqueyouth.wordpress.com) is an international initiative created to protest against the repressive attacks suffered by the Basque Youth during the last years. In response to the police operation of November 2009, in February of 2010 different youth organizations around the world drew up a manifesto of three points and we launched a campaign asking youth organisations to sign it. The manifesto claimed that all political projects must have the same opportunities, demands an end to torture and calls on both states to make commitments on behalf of a political and democratic solution.
The manifesto has been signed by more than 50 organizations, but this has been just the first step, from here onwards we will call on more organizations and we will begin a denounce-campaign.
We believe this campaign has to be carried out, the European youth and the youth form all around the world can't stay aside in face of the repression suffered by the basque youth. Therefore we call on Basque and international youth to participate in the march under the slogan "Freedom for the Basque Country! Civil & Political Rights for the Basque Youth. " That will take place on 29 May in Brussels. This mobilization will take to Europe our solidarity and denounce of the situation suffered by Gazteherria.
Meanwhile each of us and will continue to struggle, eac one in his placee, fighting for another society, we will keep firm in the struggle for our dreams. On May 29 we'll meet in the streets of Brussels.
