The CJC: 25 years organizing to the communist youth
On January 13rd, 1985, the Communist Party of the Peoples of Spain created the State Commission of the CJC, the first provisional direction of the Collectives of Communist Youth. There was fulfilled a year of the foundation of the Communist Party of that time and the refounded Marxist-Leninist project for the Spanish State recognized the need for a struggle organization for the communist youth.
The first Congress of our organization assembled more than 400 delegates in Madrid, with the challenges of an offensive of youth struggle in the student movement, in the trade union work –especially, after the General Strike of June 20th of 1985 –, the struggle for peace and against the NATO and the international solidarity work.
25 years after our foundation, the CJC we believe that today a youth organization keeps on being necessary for the communist project. Our 7th Congress celebrated between the 5th and 7th of December of last year, has done a self-critical reading of our work, indicating our wise moves and errors and raising the challenges of this new stage in the context of the structural crisis of the capitalism.
The history of the CJC cannot be understood to the fringe of the history of the communist movement with the Spanish State. Our foundation tried to be an inflection point that was marking the beginning of the recovery of the Leninism and of the abandonment of the Eurocommunism, project characterized by the ideological resignations, parallel to the conciliation of classes, the electoral struggle and the internal battles. The CJC we have always believed in a present organization in the struggles of the street, offering an organization and the struggle before the concrete and real problems of the youth, with a united and dynamic structure based on the centralism democratic and removed from all bureaucratism. Nevertheless, our desires do not come true automatically and it is obvious that this objective only has been obtained progressively.
In our history we found big battles, like the student struggles or against the NATO of the 80s, but also there exist black points that we have assumed with a critical way: the economic and political dependency towards the international devices of certain communist parties of East Europe, a structure of liberated and the practical disappearance of the CJC in the 90s, after two breakaway processes that were trying to sell off the Marxist-Leninist project of the PCPE.
The Forth and the Fifth Congress, in 1997 and 2001 respectively, supposed the recovery of the CJC as a state youth organization. But it is from 6th Congress, in July, 2005, when the CJC we begin an important process of growth, which extends our organization to almost all the territories of the State and it quadruples the militancy.
The recent 7th Congress reaches this growth period and passes to a renewed direction, which has established the objective to construct a CJC more linked to the struggles. We characterize our Congress as a success, for the militants' high participation –including also 24 delegates and international delegates –, for the quality of the debates and for an increasing conscience between ours and between our militants across the constant work, the youth of the Spanish State can advance and appear more and more ambitious challenges.
Nevertheless, in any case, the success of our Congress must not suppose in falling down in the autopleasure. The successes generate expectations and we are ready to be on a par, with our work and our commitment.
We confront this challenge with the humility of knowing that, 25 years later, the youth organization of the Revolution still does not exist. The CJC are not this youth yet and neither another of the existing communist detachments until now. This youth is still under construction. We are a germinal nucleus that will help to build it and our contribution will be greater as, with our daily work, we manage to anticipate the features of the youth capable of doing the Socialist Revolution in the Spanish State. But for it, there will be necessary to count with a lot of communist young people who today they are not members in our organization. The unit of the communists, like our program indicates, is a hanging objective, as well as the construction of a young front of lefts.
At any rate, in the current frame of deep crisis of the capitalism and having overcome many of the difficulties that historically we have suffered like organization, the CJC we can be glad to be a useful for the struggle of the Spanish State youth.
Today, like 25 years ago, the CJC we are to the offensive to join to the youth in the struggle for a Republic with Confederal and Socialist characters, like the only useful instrument so that the working class becomes like a class in the power and for the free exercise of the self-determination of the peoples.
